Pattern - Variation on the Cross-over Line
[tabblock]
[tab1: Variation on the Cross-over Line! is a highly unusual sweater pattern first published in the mid-1930's featuring crossed front panels worked on the diagonal which then meet in a point at the upper back. It is worked throughout in a bold ridge pattern which creates a plump, bouncy fabric similar to Fisherman's rib or Brioche.
The sweater is worked in separate flat pieces commencing with the back, followed by the front with its unique construction. After knitting is completed the front cross-over pieces are sewn to the main body and then the rest of the sweater is sewn together.
Variation on the Cross-over Line! is knitted using [link: Susan Crawford Excelana North, fingering weight = /collections/excelana-4-ply :link] a soft, 100% wool with great definition on textured stitches. We knitted our sample in [productlink: Guacamole = guacamole :productlink], hand-dyed in-house by Susan and her team.
Our model Theodora is shown wearing the third size to fit 97-102 cm (38-40 in) chest.
The pattern includes instructions for five sizes to fit chest measurements between 76cm (30in) and 121cm (28in) and contains clear written instructions plus a comprehensive schematic diagram and sizing chart. :tab1]
