Pattern - Light and Lovely
[tabblock]
[tab1: Light and Lovely is a highly unusual top first published in 1947. It is knitted in an all-over eyelet lace pattern and features tucks at the join between the front yoke and the body and a split back yoke with a decorative back neck opening. The elbow-length sleeves are finished with box sleeve heads and contrasting edging is worked around the yoke for adding impact. Finally bows are sewn to the front neckline. The pattern is knitted in separate flat pieces and then sewn together. Both written and charted instructions are provided for the eyelet pattern.
Light and Lovely is knitted using [link: Susan Crawford Bluem Sock = /collections/bluem-sock :link], a fingering weight yarn, worsted spun with a high twist making it perfect for socks. The Bluefaced Leicester yarn is a soft but resilient fibre and combined with a small amount of nylon, it creates the perfect fabric for socks. The yarn shows off texture, cables and lace to great effect and the fibre combination takes colour beautifully. Light and Lovely is shown here in shades [productlink: Herb Garden = bluem-sock-herb-garden :productlink] and [productlink: Night Sky = bluem-sock-night-sky :productlink], hand-dyed in-house by Susan and her team.
Our model Fleur is shown wearing the second size to fit chest 86-92cm (34-36in).
The pattern includes instructions for four sizes to fit chest measurements between 81cm (32in) and 107cm (42) and contains both clear written pattern directions, together with optional charted instructions for the eyelet lace patter; plus a comprehensive schematic diagram and sizing chart. :tab1]
