Pattern - Fair Isle Jumper

[tabblock]
[tab1: The Fair Isle Jumper pattern is a striking and unusual pattern first published in 1944. Its simple body shape conceals the ingenuity of the fascinating colourwork yoke which is worked separately to the rest of the garment, from the top down. On its completion it is then sewn to the lower body and sleeves of the jumper. The sweater is worked in separate flat pieces then sewn together.

The Fair Isle Jumper is knitted using [link: Susan Crawford Wold 2 Ply Fingering Weight = /collections/wold-2-ply-fingering-weight :link], a unique blend of the wool of three British sheep breeds known for their beautiful fleeces, Southdown, Bluefaced Leicester and Shetland, creating a fabulously lofty and soft yarn with bounce and spring. It is shown here in shades [productlink: Farm Gate = wold-2-ply-fingering-weight-farm-gate :productlink] and [productlink: Fence Post = wold-2-ply-fingering-weight-fence-post :productlink], hand-dyed in-house by Susan and her team.

Our model Theodora is shown wearing the third size to fit chest 97-102cm (36-38in).

The pattern includes instructions for six sizes to fit chest measurements between 76cm (30in) and 132cm (52in) and contains both clear written pattern directions, together with charted instructions for Fair Isle motifs, plus a comprehensive schematic diagram and sizing chart. :tab1]
