Pattern - Ena's Sweater

[tabblock]
[tab1: Ena's Sweater is an attractive lacy jumper first published in 1940 and features many of the quintessential design elements of a sweater of this period. A nipped in waist precedes a decorative lacy stitch body which is followed by an interesting shaped yoke with a square neckline, which can be worked in one colour or two colour stripes. Military style square shoulders add a further period touch. Finally the shoulders feature buttons across their length, another typical period detail. The sweater is knitted in separate flat pieces then sewn together. Both written and charted instructions are provided for the lace pattern.

Ena's Sweater is knitted using [link: Susan Crawford Fenella = /collections/fenella :link], a 2 ply (vintage) weight yarn, worsted spun for a soft handle. Exquisite for Fair Isle projects as well as textured and lace stitches. It is shown here in shade [productlink: Myristica = myristica :productlink] for the single colour version; and also in [productlink: Forget-me-not = forget-me-not :productlink] and [productlink: Myristica = myristica :productlink] for the striped version.

The pattern includes instructions for five sizes to fit chest measurements between 71cm (28in) and 117cm (46in) and contains both clear written pattern directions, together with optional charted instructions for the lace pattern, plus a comprehensive schematic diagram and sizing chart. :tab1]
